Joe is a lawyer working in urban regeneration with experience in community and youth advocacy. He has previously served in various community roles including as a member of the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board where he held portfolio responsibilities for community facilities and community funding. While on the Local Board, Joe played an active role in advancing the North Shore youth innovation centre project (now known as Shore Junction) and he continued to serve on the steering committee after leaving local politics. His passion for youth innovation and community development contributed to his research and award of the Sir Winston Churchill Fellowship in 2016 on the topic.
As the chair of the North Shore Fund (part of the Auckland Foundation) and trustee on the Portage Licensing Trust, Joe has a keen focus on financial sustainability of charities that create a multi-generational legacy. Along with this focus and passion, Joe brings a compliance and risk management mindset to the Yes Board.
