Ashe Black, Rainbow & Disability Coordinator

Kia ora! My name is Ashe, my pronouns are he/she. I’m a mix of Māori and British, and my role is the Rainbow & Disability Coordinator for YES Disability Resource Centre. I have Septo-Optic Dysplasia and am also neurodiverse, as well as of course part of the LGBT+ community!

I’ve worked as a Youth Worker for one of our sister companies, Shore Junction, since 2022 and am also a member of the Rainbow Community Advisory Panel for Auckland Council. My main role as part of YES as the R&D Coordinator is to connect our LGBT+, MVPFAFF+, and Takatāpui disabled young people together, to curate a space to exist as part of both communities in unison, with a goal to branch out into our social justice pathways advocating for queer disabled youth across the motu.

If you’d like to reach out to me I’m available for contact at ashe@yesdisability.org.nz on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9AM – 4PM.
